Science Museum Oklahoma will host fall break camps for children in pre-K up to sixth grade Oct. 19-20. Themes include the science of sound, outer space, and forensics.

Oklahoma City metro children from preschool to sixth grade can get hands-on with the science of sound, outer space, and forensics during Science Museum Oklahoma’s fall break camps set for Oct. 19-20.

“SMO’s fall break camps are an opportunity to continue to learn in fun and engaging ways while children are out of school, and we’re especially excited to launch our pre-K camp program under the direction of our early childhood educator,” said Clint Stone, director of education and training at SMO.

Camps times, dates and themes are:

Bing, Bang, Boom!, 9 a.m. to noon, Oct. 19-20, pre-K (ages 4-5): It’s time to make a ruckus! SMO’s pre-K camp will be an orchestra of noise. What makes that sound? Can we make music with water? Which drum is the loudest? Let’s find out together!

To the Moon and Back!, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 19-20, grades 1-3: Take a rock-it science adventure to outer space and back to Earth again! From comets and meteorites to stalactites and stalagmites, campers will excavate all sorts of quarry queries. Conduct mineral tests, explore plate tectonics, create fossils, and become experts at identifying rocks from Earth and space!

Chemistry and Crime – Forensics 101, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 19-20, grades 4-6: Experience hands-on forensic science activities in this suspense-filled camp! Collect and analyze evidence, explore fingerprinting, plaster casting, decoding, and more. Once the investigation is complete, campers will present their findings to a jury and identify the criminal!

Pre-K camps are $45 for museum members and $50 for nonmembers, and camps for children in grades 1-6 are $90 for museum members and $100 for nonmembers.

All camps take place at the museum located at 2020 Remington Place in Oklahoma City. Advance registration is required and closes the Wednesday before each camp or when full.
