FULL-TIME POSITIONS

Gardens and Grounds TechnicianThe gardens and grounds technician will act as a gardens facilitator as well as perform typical garden and grounds tasks. This employee will work every Saturday to assist and/or execute the "What’s Growing On?" SMO Gardens program. This position will work with the gardens manager in developing new programming and may be required to help inside the museum with but not limited to camps and seasonal train car tours. This employee will further their horticulture knowledge by reading industry literature, attending talks/workshops, and visiting other museums and gardens. This position will be required to work Saturdays and typical museum blackout dates including holidays and spring break. This position requires at least two (2) years of experience with gardening and a true interest in all things nature. This employee must be approachable and maintain a positive attitude. This position is eligible for the museum’s generous benefits, leave, and retirement package.

Maintenance Technician: The maintenance technician is responsible for assisting the facilities director in executing an extensive preventive maintenance program that includes checks and repairs. This full-time position requires three (3) years of maintenance experience in a professional setting and the ability to operate equipment such as a forklift, pallet jack and dolly to move heavy materials, plus the ability to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Hourly rate: $14.50-16/hour. This position is eligible for the museum’s generous benefits, leave, and retirement package.

Temp to Hire Custodial Team Member: The Temp to Hire Custodial Team Member position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Museum. This Includes both public and staff only areas of the Museum such as lobbies, exhibits, offices, bathrooms, break rooms, lunch rooms and other areas on the Museum premises. This position requires one (1) or more years of custodial work experience and the ability to meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation. Hourly rate: $10/hour, starting. Temporary to Hire through temporary staffing agency.

PART-TIME AND SEASONAL POSITIONS

Program Team Member: This is a part-time, entry-level position requiring weekday, weekend and holiday availability. Program team members  work directly with museum guests to operate exhibits, answer questions, and encourage scientific investigation and exploration. This position requires strong customer service skills, a sense of curiosity, good situational awareness, and an energetic personality.

Guest Relations Team Member: This is a part-time, entry-level position requiring weekday and/or weekend shifts as well as holiday availability. Guest relations team members provide superior customer service to all museum guests. This position works at the box office selling admission tickets. Preference will be given to candidates with previous customer service and cashier experience.

Model Train Exhibit Technician: This is a part-time position that requires familiarity with miniature train sets. The train exhibit technician is responsible for the maintenance of the “Tiny Tracks” train exhibit at Science Museum Oklahoma. This position works in the public area of the museum inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the train set exhibits, including checking for visible damage, guaranteeing proper function of interactive exhibits, and the repair of minor defects to ensure maximum safety and durability. This position works directly with our guests to operate exhibits, answer questions, and encourage scientific investigations and explorations. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Seasonal Gardens and Grounds Team Member: This is a part-time, seasonal position that will assist in the enhancement and care of the museum's gardens and grounds. This position requires an interest in gardening and will include mowing, edging, and string trimming, small engine maintenance/repair, plant installation and maintenance, hedging, trash disposal, and customer service for museum guests as required. This position ends Oct. 31, 2018.
